Why Consider Freelancing as a Career?

A lot of people ask me these questions; "do you see yourself 10 years from now as a freelancer?" "why not choose corporate job rather than just sitting wherever you are in front of your laptop?" "I know you can do better, apply at (name a huge company), they are hiring." "There are lots of benefits when you apply at (name a huge company)" "are you happy working alone?" "I find your job boring" "Do you find contentment and joy in working alone?" and so much more.....

I met a lot of people telling me that freelancing is just a temporary solution or just a small phase of their professional journey. That choosing to work online is a step back than a corporate 8am-5pm job. Now, if you want to tell me that you need to spend your entire life in a company for you to feel good about your career “achievements,” or you want the security of an 8-5 job? Do you want to become a manager or CEO or to brag a title of some huge corporation? Do you want to make lots of money? I will say good for you.

But let me ask you, what is considered to be a successful or stable career? For me, there is no such thing as stable career. Everything is dynamic. Even the stock market goes up and down proving that businesses aren't stable all the time. We have different outlooks in life and this differ on how are we going to react on it. What if an ordinary man who is mute and disabled starts to work on a restaurant as a waiter, with a minimum salary wage yet can afford to smile and go home bringing his salary to spend for his family's needs and very much contented for he considered it as his success for providing his family's needs. Or a happy freelancer who earns and build their own homes. A thoughtful manager of a restaurant who goes home thinking about the employees taking turns on how they provide services with your leadership. Just a happy person looking forward to what is going to happen in the next chapters for the betterment of everybody and not just for oneself. This, I considered this as a success. We all go round to a career to make a living or much more for a standard of living. When you are a freelancer with a heart, you won't notice when the years passed quickly. I took this journey unexpected and surprisingly made successful turn. I felt free and being a freelancer helps me make room to more important things in life. Considering freelancing as a career, there are millions of talented and hard-working freelancers who support the global economy. All the money we've earned will be eventually spent. All career achievements and promotions will be eventually forgotten. All you are going to be left with are your memories. Don’t be a slave to your career, but rather the master of your own life and career. Because in freelancing you are not just making a career but also building your own business, building oneself to become globally competitive in different forms.
